We built Sooonar on the conviction that the existing platforms measure the wrong thing. Likes are a signal of attention, not of quality, and the conflation of the two has done real harm to Indian jewellery design. Designers chase what scrolls. Editors chase whoever’s already trending. The result is a flat market where the work that wins is the work that already won.
Recognition has to mean something more specific. On Sooonar, it means a small editorial team has read your portfolio, your story, and your submission, and decided your piece is the one worth seeing this week. Not your follower count. Not your engagement rate. Not whether you’ve been in Vogue. Just the work, judged by people who do this for a living.
Three editors review every submitted piece. They write a curator’s note about the pick — a few hundred words explaining what they saw, what they admire, what makes this piece a thesis. That note is published with the winner, every Tuesday. The point is that recognition becomes legible. You can argue with the pick; you can’t argue that no one tried to explain it.
